Never Shake His Hand
Never Shake His Hand
Words & Music by Rick Altizer
Never shake his hand
Although he asks you please
Never shake his hand
Or you’ll catch his disease
It’s hard to gage the power he commands
You can never shake his hand
Never shake his hand
In the loneliness of night
Never shake his hand
Although it feels so right
You must beware of the things that you demand
You can never shake his hand
Never shake his hand
You’re no match for his grip
Never shake his hand
You can’t give him the slip
It only takes one touch to understand
You can never shake his hand
Never shake his hand
You’ll find he sticks to you
Never shake his hand
He’s something like the flu
He’s introduced as an honest man
He’ll recommend a subtle change in plan
And then he’ll leave you wasted in the sand
You can never shake his hand

The Lies of the Eyes
The Lies of the Eyes
Michael Kelly Blanchard
“I’m dying,” he said to the chaplain intern
Then a cough came so deep the hall nurse returned
“Lean over here boy, hurry for God’s sake,
I’ve got too little time and a confession to make.”
He kicked the girl out and raised up his bed,
Then stared at the ceiling till he seemed almost dead
And as his strength disappeared and his eyes slowly sank,
Rivers of tears ran over the bank
“when I was a boy on my way home from school,
I’d stop by a brook where the rocks made a pool
I’d kneel at its edge like some foreign guest
And drink from a cup of fingers and flesh
Then one afternoon by an old exposed root,
a magazine lay like a forbidden fruit
All of my Eden-youth died in a stare
All of my fleeing truth started there
Never had I seen persons undress
then mingle in pleasure and purposelessness
Never were faces so free from their shame
Flaunting and fearless impervious to pain
Women so naked I blushed while alone
Though enjoying a renegade warmth in my bones
I was abased and abandoned to a new appetite
That powerfully masqueraded as light
That’s where the secrets all seemed to begin
From family to lovers and all other friends
A spy so disguised in a cold carnal war
For years I would hide what I said I abhorred
Under cover by day with a wife and a child,
a job and a home and a suburban smile
I’d cruise the nights lined in “adult” arcades
Dr. Jekyll and Hyde in a private parade
When a lie is a life two choices remain
To die with your strife or renounce it by name
But like any old habit it was hard to let go
So the death that I chose was deceptively slow
Family and friends were all part of its toll
As slowly the decency drained from my soul
Further and harder and colder I’d go
Till I was all by myself with the video
Injecting disease that I kept out of sight
Sticking it into my heart like a knife
So what you see here is the corpse of a man
Dead by indulgence at his very own hand
The lies of the eyes are a shadow of shame
That eats your insides like a worm in the brain
A legion of lust that haunts in the heart
And tells you you must while it tears you apart
Though it’s too late for me, you must realize
The death I can see in the lies of the eyes
Then he looked at the cleric so hard and so long
Embarrassed, the young man broke in to a song
“Amazing Grace how sweet the sound”…
Somewhere near the end the man’s head
Slumped down.

Traitor
Traitor
Words & Music by Steve Siler
I’m in church on Sunday morning
Got the family and the new SUV
Your co-worker and your neighbor
I’m exactly who you think I should be
But my eyes feast where none can see
On visual profanity
I’m a traitor
A betrayer
A double minded-man
I’m a liar
A decay-er of everything I stand for
A voyeur in the dark
An adulterer of the heart
A betrayer
A traitor
I committed to be faithful
To keep my passion only for her
Now I’m surfing while she’s sleeping
Trusting that our bed is still pure
I’ve taken what was intimate
And carelessly polluted it
CHORUS
I feel like I’m drowning
Out of control
Like an addict who needs a fix
Selling my soul for the counterfeit high
In these pictures and pixels
God I want to pray to you
But it feels like you wouldn’t want me to
CHORUS

Somebody's Daughter
Somebody’s Daughter
Words & Music by John Mandeville & Steve Siler
The moment she was born
Her mommy and daddy cried
Taken by the wonder of life
From Barbie dolls to ballet shoes
From roller skates to lipstick and rouge
She’s become a lady overnight
Why do I see only flesh and look right past her heart
I try to tell myself I can’t help what I feel – then I remember
She’s somebody’s daughter
Somebody’s child
Somebody’s pride and joy
Somebody loves her for who she is inside
She has a mother and father
She’s somebody’s daughter
You knit her together
Your cherished creation
Made her body a temple for the soul
Why can’t I appreciate
The beauty that your hands have made
And maintain my self control
‘Cause when I see only flesh you’re looking
at her heart
There is so much more to her than meets the eye –
I need to remember
CHORUS
Heaven’s own precious child
A person full of worth and dignity
When her beauty is defiled
I demean us both and fail to see
She’s somebody’s daughter
Somebody’s child
Somebody’s pride and joy
Somebody loves her for who she is inside
She has a mother and father
She’s somebody’s daughter
She has a heavenly father
She’s somebody’s daughter

All of Me
All of Me
Words & Music by Scott Krippayne, Kent Hooper, & Steve Siler
No one’s watching
Now I’ll find out if you’re real to me
Will I love you
Or give in to something less in me
How long will my mistakes keep rehearsing
Jesus I’ve taken liberties with your mercy
All of me
I need to surrender all my favorite sins
Let you into places I have never let you in
I come clean
Lord take all of me
You know my hand
All the cards I never show the world
No more bluffing
I cast down these artificial pearls
Deeply, I know that’s how I have hurt you
Completely, starting now that’s how I want to serve you
All of me
I need to surrender all my favorite sins
Let you into places I have never let you in
I come clean
Lord take all of me

Is it Me?
Is it Me?
Words & Music by John Mandeville & Steve Siler
I can’t breathe
This can’t be happening to me
Was everything we had just a lie?
I believed while you deceived me
Faithful while my love was being violated
Nothing is the same
Nothing to hold on to
Where’s the man I knew a day ago?
Is it me?
What did I do?
Am I not enough for you?
Is it me?
Was I wrong?
I believed our love was strong
Is it me?
I feel sick
Has it really come to this?
Didn’t what we have mean anything?
You lied to me while you lay with me
What am I supposed to do with all the dreams you shattered?
How could you do this to me?! I can tell you’re sorry
Don’t touch me! I need you to hold me
Who’s going to comfort me now? Who’s going to comfort me now?
You disgust me I know this isn’t like you
It’s over between us I hope you still love me
I hate you! I hate that I need you! Only God can save us
Only God can save us
Is it me?

Into the Light
Into the Light
Words & Music by Steve Siler & John Mandeville
The walls are crashing down
My illusion has been shattered
Those thoughts that held me captive in my skin
I’ve let the secrets out
I’ve felt the demons scatter
Maybe now the healing can begin
In to the light
Into the place where nothing’s hidden
Into the light
Into the hope that I’m forgiven
Climbing from the shadows toward the way that leads to life
Out of the shame
Out of the chains
Into the light
There’s going to be a cost
Habits that need breaking
I know the path I’m on will change my life
Oh God, I need you so much
Without you I won’t make it
Lord, take the veil of darkness from my eyes
CHORUS
The unrelenting guilt that I’ve belonged to
Is finally letting go from deep within
Through the brokenness and tears
I’ve found its love I’ve feared
Yet love can take my heart from where it’s been
CHORUS

I Commit My Eyes
I Commit My Eyes
Words & Music by John Mandeville & Steve Siler
There’s a lingerie ad writhing on TV
And a bikini billboard interrupting me
There’s a hundred ways to stumble on the cable
And alluring models on every coffee table
Sometimes it seems like there’s no escape
But it’s a choice, so starting here today
I commit my eyes
I commit my eyes
I’m drawing a line in the sand
I will look away
Turn my eyes in faith
And redefine what it means to be a man
Trusting what you have for me is so much more
I commit my eyes to you Lord
Now I’m building up a line of defenses
Cause I know this fight is going to be relentless
There is no room for making comprises
With the voices that go back and forth inside us
The so called pleasure only leads to pain
True passion isn’t poison to my brain, so
CHORUS
Unless I starve my eyes from sexual sin
I’ll never see what’s truly beautiful again
I commit my eyes
I will look away
Turn my eyes on faith
And redefine what it means to be a man
Trusting what you have for me is so much more
I commit my eyes to you Lord
I commit my eyes to you Lord

Every Man's Battle
Every Man’s Battle
Words & Music by Chad Cates, Steve Siler, & John Mandeville
The wave keeps coming at you
Sometimes it feels like you might drown
But it’s a lie believin’
there is no way out
Cause there’s a Father who loves you
& he’s throwing you a rope
There’s such a hope in knowing
We’re not in this alone
It’s every man’s battle
Let’s fight this thing together
Live out in the open
And stand each other’s ground
Confess our deepest secrets
Break our darkest habits
Hold every single thought captive
And turn this thing around
Together we can
Cause it’s every man, every man’s battle
It’s a war that we’ll keep winning
One temptation at a time
As we encourage one another
To redirect our eyes
We’ll seek the road that’s higher
with our minds and hearts
Vigilant and faithful
Brothers on our guard
CHORUS
Let’s be a stand up generation
For all men yet to come
And live a Holy standard
Every father, every son

Words & Music by John Mandeville
I’m not fighting anymore
I stopped trying
Yeah I’ve burned all the ammunition that kept me at war
I’m not weary anymore
I’ve stopped trying
Trying to live up to expectations
That weren’t even mine
I’m free
Finally free
Oh I’m free from the pain and confusion
Thought I’d never be
Yeah I’m free
So free
Made my way through the lies and delusion
To this sweet release
I’m free
I’m not tortured anymore
Got no secrets
I’ve come clean with the dark obsessions
That haunted my life
I’m not lonely anymore
I’ve stopped hiding
Yeah I’ve opened my heart to the passion
That burns in your eyes
CHORUS
And I can’t explain
what you’ve done for me baby
with a love that dared to believe
with a love that really believes
CHORUS

Other Helpful Resources
Tastefully and masterfully done, Somebody’s Daughter is a must-see for every man in America. It combines intimacy and transparency like no other video I’ve ever seen on the subject. And it powerfully demonstrates that, in Christ and through Christ, there is freedom from the crushing grip of porn.
Roy Abbott, President, Focal Point Ministries
If you’re looking for a resource that clearly and effectively identifies the deceptively powerful and destructive force of pornography and at the same time offers hope for real change, look no further. Somebody’s Daughter provides pointed, transparent and real-to-life insight into one of the most significant moral challenges we face in our homes and the church today. This is a well-done, timely DVD that every pastor or counselor would be well-served to view and have available to help men fight this difficult battle.
Troy Gehman, Calvary Baptist Church, Lansdale, PA
Somebody’s Daughter goes beyond offering hope to men struggling with pornography. It speaks also to the devastated wives who love them. One wife shares with painful elegance about her journey to forgive her husband’s betrayal and to stand with him as they commit to freedom for themselves and future generations. Raw and realistic, griping, tender, and convicting – I recommend it highly. In fact, I’ll insist that anyone touched by this issue gets a copy.
Marnie C. Ferree, M.A., LMFT, Director, Bethesda Workshops, Nashville, TN
I’ve seen everything that’s out there on the issue of sexual addiction and there is nothing that even comes close to this. You have a real gem. It is ideally suited for the church.
Michael Leahy, Bravehearts, Herndon, VA
The Somebody’s Daughter DVD is the one of the most powerful tools I have ever used in counseling. This moves therapy beyond words to engaging a client’s many senses. The music, video and real life stories help clients connect in ways that talking in therapy would never do. It helps men move from seeing women as objects of gratification to children of God.
Greg Hasek, M.A., MFT, SW Florida Christian Counseling, Bonita Springs, FL
