Dragonfly

Dragonfly
Words & Music by Brian Parker

Dragonfly on my window screen
I was on my knees praying for her heart to beat
I thought that God could do, He could do anything
but didn’t seem to be listening
I couldn’t sing it is well with my soul
Took everything trying not to lose control
and then I looked up and looked out my window
and noticed something so beautiful
A dragonfly
Black and white
Opened up my eyes

New life renewed
There was light in the darkness afternoon
and my cry found rescue
in a radiant sign
Death stopped her heart
I didn’t know where to start
Just to show that I was loved in my lowest time
God gave me a dragonfly

I wondered why, why this was my sign
Did I pray enough with all my heart, soul, and mind?
and when I bowed down somehow it helped me rise
and in this moment I realized

New life renewed
There was light in the darkness afternoon
and my cry found rescue
in a radiant sign
Death stopped her heart
I didn’t know where to start
Just to show that I was loved in my lowest time
God gave me a dragonfly

Holding
Holding on
Holding
Holding on
Holding
Holding on

When life breaks your heart
and you don’t know where to start
When light goes dark
and your world is torn apart
He’ll surround you with his love in your lowest tine
Just look for your dragonfly
