More Beautiful

"Eighteen years ago I had a bone marrow transplant for the recurrence of breast cancer and was given a 2 percent chance to be alive in ten years. Today as an author and professional speaker to cancer survivors and oncology caregivers, I'm always searching for outstanding resources and MusicfortheSoul.org's More Beautiful is one of those. As I previewed the music video - Widest Ride on Earth - I was touched so profoundly I just sobbed. Although my tears were rooted in the painful experience of battling cancer for years, the result was a healing deep in my soul. In my opinion, this DVD comes from the hand of God."

"As a breast cancer survivor, I can tell you that the song More Beautiful brought comfort and healing to me and my family and to the many cancer survivors who are my patients. When I listen to your song a great weight is lifted off my shoulders. I can actually feel it happening."
- Dr. Beverly Anderson, Washington, DC

In late 2002 Sandy and Marty Wheeler were expecting their first child. During the seventh month of her pregnancy Sandy discovered a lump that turned out to be cancer.

Subsequently she had a C-section and underwent a double mastectomy. Their baby was a girl and they named her Hannah.

One day when I was driving down the road the phrase, "No one has ever been more beautiful to me," landed in my head as a complete thought. The next thing I knew I had written a song for Sandy and Marty right there in my car! Later, I somewhat apprehensively gave a tape of the song to Marty saying, "I think this is for you."

The next day after listening to the song Marty called to say they were the words he would have said to Sandy if he had had them. He decided to wait to play the song for her, feeling like there would come a time in the future when she would need to hear its message. One day after weeks of chemotherapy Sandy, suffering from multiple side affects, came to her husband and said, "I feel like a monster." That is when he played her the song.

According to breastcancer.org it is natural to worry about feeling less attractive. But an important thing for a recovering breast cancer patient to remember is that those who love them are most concerned about them being alive and well. "Most caring partners see their lovers as having many parts to love, and as being more than the sum of those parts."

This CD has been an encouragement to thousands of women during their recovery from breast cancer. We hope it will encourage both the breast cancer patient and her family as they walk the road to recovery together.

MORE BEAUTIFUL
Words & Music by Steve Siler

For better or worse, in sickness and health
We knew our vows and we said them so well
Sunshine and happiness were all we could see
And no one was ever more beautiful to me

We laughed and we loved, we ran and we played
It felt like heaven in the home that we made
Our lives were much sweeter than any dream could be
And no one was ever more beautiful to me

You changed everything
You taught me to smile
You brought a new start
You gave me joy untold
On the day you stole my heart

Then we learned that a child was coming to bless
With rocking chairs and teddy bears we feathered the nest
As life grew inside you we knew we'd be three
And no one was ever more beautiful to me

You changed everything
You brightened my world
You shone like a star
You made my life feel whole
On the day you stole my heart

Now I stand helpless and watch you in pain
I wish I could fix this, make it all go away
But here is the one thing that you must believe
No one was ever more beautiful to me
No one could ever be more beautiful to me
